Question: What is the oil cleansing method (OCM)?
Answer:
The oil cleansing method, or OCM for short, is different from cleansing oils. Cleansing oils are oils with emulsifiers in them that wash clean with water only. In the OCM, a plain oil (without emulsifiers) is used.
For the OCM, you apply a carrier oil (sunflower, safflower, jojoba, grapeseed, olive, rice bran, etc) to your skin, massage to remove sunscreen and makeup, steam (either over warm water or with a warm washcloth), and then wipe everything off with a warm washcloth or towel. Following up with a facial cleanser is optional.
The OCM is supposed to clean your pores without stripping and keep your skin moisturized.
