Question: What are thermal waters? Is there a difference between them?
Answer:
Thermal waters are basically mineral sprays that come from thermal spring waters. They have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, with scientific studies to back up these claims.
Thermal waters help reduce redness and sooth and rebalance your skin. However, be aware that the mineral content can cause dermatitis or Rosacea to flare. Thermal waters may also irritate sensitive skins.
There are several on the market, but the difference between all the thermal waters is their varying mineral content. La Roche Posay’s thermal water has more selenium. They also have a Serozinc one which has zinc sulfate. Vichy has more sulfur. Avene has silica. I’m not sure about Evian though. Some of these sprays also have a finer mist than the others.
Since thermal waters are just like spraying water on your skin, can’t you just make your own? Well, I guess you could if you wanted to, but regular water would lack the minerals the thermal waters have and it would be hard to find a spray bottle to spray as finely as the thermal mist.
